Road Safety Awareness Week – 23/01/2025
A joint rally was organized by St. Theresa's arts and science college for women - LEO Club, YRC, Eco Club, and, NSS in association with Mother Theresa NGO and Welspun Enterprise, to promote road safety awareness as part of the Road Safety Awareness Week. The rally, which commenced at Tharangambadi Beach and concluded at St. Theresa's arts and science college for women. 160 students, who enthusiastically raised slogans and created awareness among the public about the importance of road safety. The rally was flagged off by Rev. Sr. Karuna Josephet, Secretary, St. Theresa's arts and science college for women, and Maj. Dr. V. Kamarasan, Principal, who emphasized the need for responsible behavior on roads and the importance of adhering to traffic rules. Students, who participated in the rally, displayed placards and banners with thought-provoking messages, highlighting the dangers of reckless driving, the importance of wearing helmets, and the need to follow traffic signals. The rally was a huge success, with the students successfully conveying the message of road safety to the public. The event reinforced the college's commitment to promoting social awareness and responsible citizenship among its students.
LEO Meeting – 09/03/2024
The LEO Meeting - 2024 for the 324F district of the Lions Club was held in Thanjavur. 52 Lions Clubs participated in the event. Special awards were given for membership enrollment and eye treatment camps. The Lions District Governor, Lions District President, District Leo Club President, Secretary, all District Leo Club Presidents, Leo Club President, Secretary, Treasurer, and members attended the event on behalf of our club, along with the Leo Club President, Secretary, Vice President, Leo Coordinator, and members.
Leo Day and Orientation Program on 06/12/24
The Leo Day and Leadership Qualities Training of the Tharankampadi St. Theresa Leo Club was held on 06/12/24 at the Art Hall.The objective of this event was to promote the goals of the Leo Club and to develop leadership qualities.Lion J. Senthilkumar, the District Leo President, attended as the special guest and graced the occasion. The event was also honored by the presence of Chief Guest Major. Veera. Kamarasar, Secretary Arutzhakothari Karuna Josephath, Arutzhakothari. Vincent Amala, Lion Professor Dr. A. Xavier Selvakumar, Leo Advisor, Lion Professor K. Punitharaja, District President of Women's Empowerment, Professor A. George, and Leo Club Coordinator, all of whom contributed to the event's success. The event was excellently coordinated by Leo Club President, Leo Selvi Abhinaya, and the members of the Leo Club.Through this training, the Leo Club members committed to developing and applying leadership qualities in their activities.
Environmental Awareness on 01.10.2023
On 01.10.2023, the ECO Club, LEO club in collaboration with various local organizations, came together to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices. This event aimed at engaging the community in discussions and actions related to nature conservation and ecological well-being. In a symbolic gesture to promote the conservation of palm trees, participants planted palm tree seeds during the event. This initiative emphasized the ecological importance of palm trees, which play a vital role in local biodiversity related to nature conservation and ecological well-being.
Celebration of Wildlife Week (02.10.2023 – 09.10.2023)
On 01.10.2023, the ECO Club and LEO Club, in collaboration with various local organizations such as the PorayarTharangambadi Lions Club, National Service Scheme (NSS), and Public Awareness Center,came together to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices. This event aimed at engaging the community in discussions and actions related to nature conservation and ecological well-being.
The program was a huge success, with an increased awareness of the challenges facing wildlife and the importance of conservation efforts. The collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Forest Department helped provide a platform for students to engage with real-life experts and learn about ongoing conservation initiatives. Many students expressed their interest in taking part in future wildlife conservation programs.
World Forestry Day – 2024
Celebration of World Forestry Day (March 21, 2024)
World Forestry Day aims to raise awareness about the importance of forests and trees, not only in maintaining ecological balance but also in supporting biodiversity and combating climate change. This year, the ECO Club dedicated this day to engaging the college community in understanding and valuing our forests.We are proud to have collaborated with the Tamil Nadu Forest Department for this event, which greatly enhanced the impact of our activities. Their expertise and hands-on involvement were key in making the celebration a success.
In association with the Forest Department, we organized a tree plantation event on campus, where students, faculty, and staff contributed by planting native trees. The Forest Department provided guidance on which species are best suited for the region and how to care for them.
Students and faculty will gain a deeper understanding of the critical role forests play in maintaining environmental balance.The tree plantation drive will leave a lasting environmental legacy, with students actively involved in caring for the newly planted trees.This event will inspire students to adopt sustainable practices and contribute to forest conservation efforts.
NATIONAL ROAD SAFETY MONTH- JAN 2025 ON 23/01/2025
Road Safety Month is dedicated to spreading awareness about the significance of safe driving and the impact of road safety on reducing accidents. Every year, millions of people around the world lose their lives or suffer serious injuries on the roads. The primary aim of Road Safety Month is to promote education and encourage everyone.
Clean-Up Program for International Coastal Day at Tharangambadi Beach – 21.09.2024
Our college, in collaboration with various student clubs, organized a significant clean-up drive at Tharangambadi Beach on the occasion of International Coastal Day on 21st September 2024. The event was spearheaded by the Youth Red Cross (YRC), Leo Club, and National Service Scheme (NSS). It aimed to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining clean and sustainable coastal environments while actively involving students in preserving our natural resources.
Event Overview:
The clean-up program took place on the scenic Tharangambadi Beach, a well-known coastal location. Students from various departments, along with faculty members, joined hands to make this initiative a success. The beach, known for its beauty and historical significance, was thoroughly cleaned by the participants, who worked tirelessly to collect plastic waste, glass bottles, wrappers, and other debris that had accumulated along the shoreline.

Over hundreds of students from the YRC, Leo Club, and NSS took part in the event. Equipped with gloves, bags, and other necessary cleaning tools, the volunteers meticulously cleaned the beach area. They were guided by their respective club leaders and faculty mentors throughout the event. The clean-up activity was not only a great way to contribute to the environment but also served as a practical learning experience in team building, leadership, and environmental stewardship.
VOTER AWARENESS RALLY- 01.02.24
In view of the upcoming elections, YRC conducted a Voter Awareness Rally to emphasize the importance of voting. The Principal led the event, and students engaged with the local community, educating them about their voting rights and the importance of participating in the democratic process.
DENGUE AWARENESS PROGRAMME - 26.09.23
A Dengue Awareness Programme was conducted to educate students and faculty about dengue prevention, particularly during the rainy season. Dr. G.V. Pandian shared important information on the prevention of mosquito-borne diseases.
TOBACCO AWARENESS RALLY – 2023 (11.08.23)
inaugurated by Maj. Dr. V. Kamarasan and Dr. G.V. Pandian. Students took the Tobacco and Narcotics Oath and actively participated in spreading awareness about the dangers of tobacco use.
